The Cove: Smith Page Conservation Area
Welcome to the Exeter Trails Team Wiki and
Thank you for taking the techno plunge with us!
Purpose of this Wiki:
- To coordinate Exeter's Trail Management Planning process,
- To enable all stakeholders access and input into the plan, and
- To provide information regarding trail walks and volunteer efforts.
You did it! The final draft of the trail plan has been completed!
The final draft of the trail plan is complete and it has happened in no small part to so many of you! Thank you so much for your efforts and involvement.
You can view the final draft in the "Sidebar" to the right.
Why final "draft" you ask? We feel there are two major steps left before the Conservation Commission can officially adopt the trail plan. The first step is to complete the Natural Resources section of the document. We feel its important to be sure trail recommendations are in sync w/ the conservation goals for these areas. Additionally the Conservation Commission would like allow the easement holders the opportunity to review the plan before its finalized. Those two steps will be our goals over the next few months.
Where we go from here?
As the additional sections are completed I will post them here for your review. In the mean time, enjoy your resources! Winter is an amazing time to explore these areas. We hope to schedule some public trail walks during the winter months and I will post those here too. If you want to host your own trail day, feel free to add it to the calendar.
Navigating thru the Wiki
- Watch the Getting Started video. Invest 5 minutes, I found it very useful.
- The Sidebar is your friend. Use it to navigate through the different files
- Maps - Trail maps can now be found in the trail plan. For more detailed trail maps check the town website.
- Calendar - use this to see upcoming meetings, or post field visits, events, etc
- Trail Regions- Each Trail Region has its own page in the Trail Regions Folder. Add any tidbits about your favorite areas or hikes you've take and would like to share here.
- Email Updates - click on "account" (upper right corner), then the tab "HOME" and under "PREFERENCES" use the drop down to edit how often you receive notices that someone has added information to the wiki.

I have received several phone calls concerned that tonights meeting will be addressing closing the Ft. Rock area to mountain bikes. Though I love the additional contacts I have gotten as a result of this concern and am excited for the increase in interest, with the exception of short term closures during mud season, closing the Town Forests to mountain bikes is not a part of tonights agenda, nor is it a part of the plans for this area.
Feel free to view our agenda under "Sidebar" to the right and to contact me if you have any additional questions 418-6452.
Thanks, Kristen Murphy

As Steve mentioned, he will not be at the meeting on Tuesday 5/26 (next week). Im thinking we could conduct the site updates via the wiki and take the evening off. Email me if you have an item to address.

We attempted to install the posts for the internal trail signs at Henderson Swasey. Unfortunately someone viewed them as an easy target and walked away with them. Please keep on the lookout for the posts on your hikes/bikes in Henderson Swasey as its possible they just removed them and stashed them somewhere. Contact the Planning Department at 773-6112 if you find anything. Thanks so much!
